When it comes to waterfront views, everyone is going mad for Mimico

Posted on | buzzhomeblog Posted in DEVELOPMENTS, ONTARIO | Leave a comment

You've come a long way, Mimico!

For some people it’s only a stop between Union Station and the ‘burbs on the Lakeshore West Go Train route. For others, it’s just a funny word.

But Mimico is becoming the go-to place for Torontonians who want to get a prime piece of real estate along the wonderful waterfront. That’s the thrust of a new Toronto Life story that sheds some lights on the up-and-coming Toronto area.

While mansions and bungalows and two-storey homes are commonplace in Mimico, new condo developments are becoming more prevalent.

The article notes that first time buyers and empty nesters are finding the area more and more appealing as condo developments like Davies Smith‘s Eleven Superior and Empire‘s Beyond the Sea are springing up in the eastern edge.

Toronto Life also points to the creation of Mimico Square, a new waterfront park and performance space that opened in 2010, as heralding a new era of growth for the community. “The area is part of an $18-million expansion that adds green space and cantilevered boardwalks,” they write. Read more

Small town charm meets urban sophistication at Summerlea, and the two couldn’t get along better

Posted on | buzzhomeblog Posted in DEVELOPMENTS, ONTARIO | Leave a comment

Strolls down a quiet, scenic street, catching June bugs in the backyard, flying kites… Sounds charming doesn’t it?

No, we aren’t describing an episode of ANY television show made in the 50s, we’re talking about that small town charm that people love so much. And what makes small town charm even better? When it integrates awesome urban amenities of course!

Not a lot of towns can boast about their urban amenities, but still retain that that ineffable charm. That’s what Summerlea, the master planned community by Empire, is all about. The collection of detached homes on 30,36 and 44 foot lots aims to offer the serenity and comfort of a small town while maintaining the sophisticated urban amenities that most folks have come to expect in any new development.

Summerlea is situated in the quaint yet vibrant town of Binbrook and is only minutes away from Hamilton. That means you’ll have plenty of space — units start from 1200 square feet and top off at 2799 square feet — but you’ll also be able to take advantage of urban conveniences like Walmart, Shoppers Drug Mart and Fortinos. You’ll be able to hike in the Binbrook Conservation Area yet you’ll still be close to top notch health care services and top notch retail shopping options. Read more

Topping it all off! Star Tower at Beyond the Sea celebrates its topping off with fine wine and magnificent views

Posted on | buzzhomeblog Posted in DEVELOPMENTS, ONTARIO | Leave a comment

Last Friday we had the pleasure of attending the topping off party for Star Tower, the third phase of Empire Communities‘ Beyond the Sea condo and townhouse development.

We love this type of party since we get to head up to the tip top of the tower in a hoist (so much fun!) and take in some pretty epic views of the city. On Friday we made it to the 40th floor but once complete, this Etobicoke development will be 44 storeys.

We’ll get to the main event — our awesome photos — in just a moment, however, first let’s do a quick backgrounder on Star Tower and the Beyond the Sea project.

Beyond the Sea comprises three condos towers as well as a collection of townhomes. Condos and townhomes start from $399,900 and top off at $1,139,900.

E.I. Richmond Architects handled the (you guessed it!) architecture while the renowned Munge Leung handled the interior design. Star Tower will be the tallest of the Beyond the Sea towers, measuring in at a healthy 44 storeys while the north tower measures 27 storeys and the south tower measures 37 storeys.

Alright! Are you ready to move on to the photos? Good, let’s check them out! Read more
