When it comes to architecture, you’d be hard-pressed to find a more enthusiastic group than the BuzzBuzzHomies.

Our motto is “if a building looks awesome then we want to see it!” That’s why we’re super jazzed for Migrating Landscapes, a Canada-wide competition for architects and designers ages 45 and under that has been traveling (migrating?) across the country. On February 6, it will arrive in style in Toronto and will continue until February 24 at Toronto’s Brookfield Place. The exhibition is open to everyone, so check it out.

The competition and exhibitions are all in preparation for the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale, also known as the World Cup of Architecture — the only difference being Canada usually does well instead of very badly. Read more

Are wine cellars a tough sell? Not when it comes to The Shores

Posted on | buzzhomeblog Posted in DEVELOPMENTS, ONTARIO | Leave a comment

Last week The Shores invited its buyers to partake in an evening of fine wine that included a wine cellar tutorial by Greg Zeismann of The Wine Establishment.

For those of you who are out of the wine loop, The Wine Establishment is a wine accessory and cellar purveyor in Toronto.

When it comes to fine wine, we all could probably use a little tutorial and these folks are certainly an authoritative source on all things wine. The evening was also a great opportunity for buyers at the Cityzen development in Oakville to scoop up wine lockers.

On top of the Wine Establishment tutorial, Tod Stewart of Tidings’ Magazine was there to introduce guests to a selection of fine wines. Nothing beats a good tasting and we’re willing to bet that these were some seriously excellent wines. Tidings is Canada’s only national food and wine publication so we imagine that they only come out for the finest.

We’ve got some photos of the event below for you to check out and maybe even live vicariously through, if you so choose… All photos are courtesy of Parmjit Parmar. Read more

Art attack! Public art at Absolute World adds to the architecturally stunning development’s allure

Posted on | buzzhomeblog Posted in DEVELOPMENTS, ONTARIO | Leave a comment

Last Friday the BuzzBuzzHomies ventured out to Mississauga for a very important event in the city’s history.

Was a new store opening at Square One? Did the Ice Dogs win a game? NO! That’s old Mississauga talk. Events like that may have been significant for the city 20 years ago when people considered it to be simple, sleepy Toronto suburb, but stuff like that doesn’t garner attention anymore.

This was an event of a totally different kind. On Friday, the first privately commissioned piece of public art was unveiled at Cityzen‘s and Fernbrook HomesAbsolute World condo development. The sculptures, displayed at the corner of Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe, are truly international pieces as they were created by world renowned artist and sculptor Francisco Gazitua of Chile.

The sculptures feature the images of three horses in dynamic poses. They’re pretty awesome to see up close, but for now you’ll have to live vicariously through our photos. Have a look… Read more
