How do you know it’s spring in the condo world? You can always tell by the way developers are springing into action and launching new projects and releasing new suite collections.

LOVE Condos is a perfect example of this springtime tendency to release new suites. The penthouses at the Scarborough development are slated for release in the wonderful spring months. While we don’t have a concrete date yet, we’re definitely looking forward to hearing more about it.

The 10 penthouse suites will range in size from 638 to 1049 square feet and will feature nine-foot ceilings.

The Gemterra project is one of the hottest in Scarborough right now due to its proximity to easy transportation and convenient amenities. Read more

Cinema Tower has proven time and time again that it’s a film-lover’s paradise.

But if, for whatever reason, you still aren’t quite convinced of their film buff credentials, try this one on for size.

The Daniels project is screening films produced by students from Ryerson’s Film and Media Studies program as well as youth from the Regent Park Film Festival. Screenings began last weekend and will be happening every weekend until April 15. Read more

In this edition of Buzz Talk we chat with Don Forsgren, the President of Intracorp. Don has been with the company since 1994, and took on the role of President in 2000.

Intracorp lives by the philosophy “Building the Extraordinary” and have certainly lived up their motto with awesome projects that capture the heart of their communities.

We chatted about his driven start in the business, Burnaby’s “Great Street”, the future of Vancouver’s real estate development scene, and the best place to get a killer latte in Vancouver. Turns out it’s our favourite place too!

BuzzBuzzHome: How did you start your career in real estate?

Don Forsgren: I was interested way back as a kid in building and creating things and think that drove me to be interested initially. I attended UBC and did the commerce degree in Real Estate. I was fortunate enough when I graduated to work with Polygon Homes as an Acquisition and Research guy. They are a great firm and a wonderful learning environment. Read more

Crystal is a part of Pinnacle‘s master planned community in Mississauga’s Hurontario and Eglinton area.

Mississauga City Councillor Bonnie Crombie was on hand to speak to the crowd about the city’s rise to prominence and the integral role Pinnacle is playing in creating vibrant new communities in the city. Read more

INDX unveils long-awaited scale model at VIP event [PICS]

Yesterday we took a trip to the downtown core to check out the VIP event Lifetime and CentreCourt were holding for INDX.

The 54 storey project is turning heads due to its location in the heart of Toronto’s Financial District. The developers are aiming the project at the young go-getter demographic — the ambitious folks who want to live a stone’s throw away from where they work.

There was a long line to get in when we arrived at First Canadian Place and the large conference was packed to the rafters and buzzing with activity. Read more

We really like this new trend we’re seeing take shape where a developer will build a small number of large, multistory suites in or around the heart of the city. Of course, more space is inherently appealing, but we also think larger suites with 2 or 3 storeys are a great alternative to the traditional single detached home.

Annex Town5, a new project by Joy Developments, is a perfect example of this trend. The development has 5 units ranging in size from 1450 to 1500 square feet. Each unit has 3 storeys leaving us wondering what the heck we should call this type of development? Is it a loft house? A townhome? A loft condo? Read more
