Aspen Ridge Homes planning big charity drive for Family Day and it’s a big social media win!
We know you’ll be busy spending Family Day with your family (who else?) but if you have a moment to hop on your computer (or smartphone) you should head to Aspen Ridge Homes‘ Twitter and Facebook pages and give them a follow and a like.
Why? Because for every Facebook like and/or Twitter follower Aspen Ridge receives on Family Day, the company will donate $1 to Habitat for Humanity Canada.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that helps low-income families caught in the cycle of poverty. While it’s international in scope, the Canadian branch of the organization has provided over 1,800 families with access to homeownership. Read more
Pixel is a hop, skip, and a jump away from shops, restaurants, schools, and more!
Nothing quite beats the convenience of having everything you need right on your doorstep.
That’s why we were excited to find out that Pixel, a Calgary condo development by Battistella Developments, has a Walk Score of 92.
If you haven’t heard of Walk Score, it’s a really cool website that measures the walkability of addresses all over North America. Rating an address out of 100, it looks at everything in the surrounding area, including schools, cafes, and shopping, and rates how easy it is to walk to them. Read more

Calgary named one of the world’s fastest growing cities thanks to affordability, low taxes, and energy
We always knew Calgary had some serious street cred, but there’s a new study backing up its stellar reputation.
New Geography just released its list of the world’s fastest growing cities, and Calgary is featured in the top 20.
The list is a bit different than the ones we normally see as New Geography chose to ignore established world players like New York, sprawling mega cities like Mexico City, and recent newcomers like Toronto that have gained popularity and charm in the last few decades.

Mini villagers take over the East Village for FIRST’s photo contest
When Gulliver was shipwrecked on Lilliput the last thing he expected to find was an island full of tiny people. It’s the last thing we expected to find in the East Village in Calgary, too, but over the last few months miniature East Villagers have been popping up all over the neighbourhood.
Okay, so the East Village isn’t really secretly populated by miniature people. The gang at FIRST, the new condo project by Slokker Real Estate Group and Fram Building Group, came up with a really creative photography contest, centred around extremely tiny East Villager figures exploring their neighbourhood and showing off what it has to offer.
With 100 entries, the photos were super imaginative, shedding light on just how great a neighbourhood the East Village will be to live in. But there could only be one winner, and the grand prize went to Soha Zia for this surreal photograph of the villagers.
Soha will get to spend three days at Place d’Armes Hotel & Suites with $1,500 in spending money. A little jealous? We are too…
But what’s the story behind FIRST? We guess we got a tiny bit ahead of ourselves (pun very much intended) explaining the contest and forgot to give you the scoop on First, first. Read more
The Guardian aims to please with food, nature, and convenience… What more do you need?
We all need a few essentials to survive: food to eat, a place to sleep, and exercise to stay healthy and fit.
We don’t know about you, but half the time we end up driving in circles trying to accomplish it all, especially that food and exercise balance…
The folks at The Guardian, the new condo project by Hon Towers Ltd., seem to understand this and have built their new project with our dilemma in mind — condos that strike a balance between urban and pastoral life, with easy access to the things you need. Good call, Guardian, good call!
