Welcome to the smallest apartment you can legally build in California [VIDEO]

Posted on | buzzhomeblog Posted in DESIGN, WATER COOLER | 3 Comments

Developer Patrick Kennedy is all about saving space. After all, 42 per cent of San Franciscans live alone — how much space do they really need?

That’s why Kennedy’s company has designed the smallest apartment you can legally build in accordance with California building code. At 160 square feet, the apartment sounds a little cramped but it comes fully equipped with a “smart bench” that morphs into a dining banquette or guest bed, a couch that turns into a queen-sized bed, a stove top that slips under the counter and an appliance garage for all your ugly appliances. The Carnaby unveils new rendering and slick architectural details

Posted on | buzzhomeblog Posted in DESIGN, DEVELOPMENTS, ONTARIO | Leave a comment

We’ve been waiting with bated breath for more details on The Carnaby to be revealed and today we can confidently announce that the timeless saying is true — good things really do come to those who wait.

What kind of good things? A brand new, full-tower rendering of The Carnaby!

The new Streetcar Development and Dundee Realty project first caught our attention back in February when they unveiled a slick ad that channeled a distinctly English vibe. TACT Architecture will be handling The Carnaby‘s design. They hope to foster the dynamic and cutting edge vibe that Queen West exudes and create a foot-friendly new block in the connecting laneway between the three developments.

The Carnaby is an exclamation point at the end of the laneway,” says Monika Jaroszonek, the senior designer at TACT. Read more

Dedication to creating great public art is one of the tell-tale signs of a great world city.

A sculpture here and a painting there can go a long way in brightening up an (at times) drab and functional urban landscape. Sometimes artists adopt a ‘go big or go home’ attitude when it comes to public art installations and the new “Lake Light Threshold” in downtown Toronto is an example of that attitude in action.
